Chennai: anyone for footie?
Where can I watch United give the Arse a lesson? A bar -ideally- that's actually open. I'm on the southern edge ECR/Thiruvanmiyur so somewhere in this area would be great -but unlikely. Anywhere is better than nowhere 'though, so suggestions please.
All United fans welcome, and gooners if there's not going to be too much crying after... Last edited by machadinha : Nov 3rd, 2007 at 11:22. Reason: adjusted title |

There was a sport bar with a large screen plasma at Adyar Park Sheraton last time I was there.
They refused to let me in coz I was in shorts then I had to go watch the cricket in the coffeeshop. You could jump into an auto for like 50 Rs one-way and beers may run like 150~200 for a 330ml can..

Mick,
I went to the game at Flashburton, and must say it was a joy to watch. The lesson this Arsenal team learned was that United are a team who sing silly songs before the points are in the bag. I wasn't crying but I bet you were though! Mwahahaha!! Work brings me to Chennai very soon, so I will be giving up my Emirates season ticket I know the Park Sheraton shows most sporting occasions. I shall be there to watch the Hatton vs Mayweather fight in particular. 8 December live from Las Vegas!! Last edited by Cruzer : Nov 5th, 2007 at 16:31. |

fun-nnnnnny
cruzer: yes indeed, you were at the game but i wonder if you were watching it. all i'll say is, the way the arse celebrated scraping a point AT HOME tells it's own story. course ye were playing the CHAMPIONS...went to the raintree to watch the game, (corona and heineken sold) but might try the park sheraton for the next big one if anyone is around.
incidentally, my condolences about your exile to chennai. you must have been a very bad boy in a previous life, as the locals would have it. am i the only person who thinks this is the worst city in the world???? |

Hello Mick,
You even look like a ManUre fan. You must have been watching the game with those sunglasses on. It obviously hurt to concede that last ditch goal. On the upside - It looks like England have qualification in their own hands. A draw against Croatia will see them good. Keep in touch on the big games over the weekend. They're definitely in my schedule now I'm back here. D |

being a mick, not that bothered about your boys qualification hopes hanging by a slim thread. although i would find it mildly amusing if a team with that amount of talent managed to f$$k it up. how DO ye get into these situations?
not that we can laugh: flash back to 18 months ago: next up, a 'world class' manager. i give you... stan staunton. cyprus? san marino? stop, you're killing me. and for all those who say there are no easy games in international football anymore. bollocks. it's SAN MARINO dude! sat: bilic to bring himself on as a 90 min sub and score the winner when robinson drops the ball at his feet. you heard it here first... |

I should have guessed you weren't a Manc, judging by your following of Man Utd.
You were close with your England prediction. It wasn't Bilic and it wasn't Robinson... but close none the less. Where are you watching the ball tomorrow? |

working all day. too fecked to face chennai traffic this evening.
and, contrary to the myth, most mancs are utd fans. just cause 'foreigners' have the good taste to appreciate them isn't united's fault. oh, and mcclaren obviously read my post & dropped robinson. should have warned him about lampard & gerrard too... |

incidentally. if anyone is interested, maybe we could arrange a regular place to watch the games. not in the farfing about way they've been trying to pick a date & time & place for a meal: make it a regular thing and whover shows up shows up? adyar sheraton? sat at 3pm gmt?

I went to the Park Sheraton to watch my team go 3 points clear with a game in hand. At 3pm BST the bar was empty, and I got them to put the Arsenal vs Wigan game on. On the other side was the Bolton vs ManU game, so I had the best of both worlds, and left there very happy indeed.
Can't remember the name of the bar. As you go into the hotel, take a right and walk down to the end of the corridoor. Then take a left and the bar is straight ahead. I'll be going there this Saturday too... |

Isnt that the provogue lounge? Vijay's Cafe used to be a sports bar- lovely steaks (rated them the best in chennai), but sadly it bit the dust!
