Hi there,
Apologies if this is in the wrong place (Figured I can't go wrong posting this in the Chennai forum!)

Can anyone offer any up to date information on the Chennai Airport retiring rooms?

We've got 9 hours of transit between flights on the way out of India and would like somewhere to sleep for a few hours.

Any help appreciated, thanks!

I only know they exist; I've read about them here, and I've even seen a sign at the airport pointing to them (inside a door sort-of-next-door to the international departures entrance).

If you can keep the eyes open and save the sleep for the flight, nine hours is enough for a quick car tour of the town.

Hi Nick,
Thank you for your response We're considering the tour of Chennai - actually do you have any suggestions on how to go about a tour of Chennai? The links I've found in other posts seem to be dead and the Government website isn't very informative about their tours.

The reason I'm looking up at the rooms is this is at the end of 2 months in India for my partner and she might very well just want to relax before we fly back to the real world, it's going to be a long time in India for her - I'm only there for a month.

well, after one or two months here, I wonder if a whistle-stop tour of another city would be worth it!

If you did want to, then you could just take a car for a six-hour package from the airport.

You'll find the retiring rooms Nearby Golden chariot restuarant located on first floor of Airport. The entrance is between arrival gate of internation terminal and departure-2 gate of domestic termianal (just next to it).

Didn't reply earlier since my information is a couple of years old, but I stayed overnight at the airport rooms once.

Located between domestic and international (which is the same terminal and one continuous building. Just turn right after you exit the domestic terminal- after not more than a minutes walk you will see a sign on the right.)

Somewhere there is the airport managers office, you need to see him/her, show your onward tickets and find out if rooms are available.

Hi Cap'n,
Thanks for your response - Were the rooms clean? (And free of bed bugs I hope!:P)

Let us hope there is room there for the 9 hours we've got in Chennai before we leave India!

Chennai Airport - Retiring rooms for international transit

hi!
we are traveling with kids from Paris to Sri lanka and have 10 hour stop over in Chennai. we would try to get retiring room but is it accessible from international transit terminal or we would need to go through customs? In that case we would need to obtain visas for India prior to our trip. SO I would be very grateful if anyone can tell be if access to retiring rooms is possible without going through customs.
Many thanks, Marija

Are the retiring rooms still there? What are they? Hotel bedrooms with bathrooms or a free resting area? Thanks for the info, I'll be at Chennai airport next week for 6 hours...

Do they have a contact number for these airport retiring rooms? Or do you just turn up and hope they have a room?

Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.
