Broadband - plans and hardware in Chennai
Hello,
Could someone please recommend a wireless router (brand & model) that they are currently using, that offers a strong steady signal Wireless B, wireless G? The reason is that some hardware simply does not work well in some cities. I know this is rather subjective but who is the best ISP in Chennai..? edit: Mod, my 'speech-to-type' program that will make me an internet gazillionaire is still in testing ;( edit: PS, thx mod! ![]()

I think there are much better-informed forums than this one for such information.
For Broadband issues, see www.vinuthomas.com. Best of the "broad"band suppliers? BSNL and Airtel. It isn't very broad.

I have an unwanted Lynksys wireless router if you are interested.
Please note that it does not include the modem |

That's mighty generous of you NH, but I'm sure there is someone there right now who can take it off your hands, rather than me arriving sometime in Dec/Jan...
Thanks for the offer! |

It's been sitting around for months. See how you go; I'd advise that you get a modem/router/wireless from the ISP. BSNL can supply.

OK will do Nick, thanks!
Most prolly will get a wireless router with built in modem, but let's see compatibility on the various forums.. Not even sure that the telephone lines where I'm looking to rent would be broadband capable or have broadband service that far out. In which case, I'll have to look at those PCMCIA / USB cell phone modems.. Anyone using those? What speeds do you get? |

I don't think you'll have any trouble getting the connection from either BSNL or Airtel.
But remember that 'broadband' here is pretty damned slow and expensive compared to much of the rest of the world ![]() |
