Question Baby Safe Chennai airport (vicinity) hotel: Urgent Help

Hello,

We are travelling to Chennai with our 1yr old son. We are arriving Chennai at 1am on Sunday morning and our connection (domestic) flight is @ 7pm in the evening. We also have 2 elders with us. I am just wondering if there is any decent infant safe/clean hotels near and around Chennai. Although I would be going into City (T-Nagar) in the morning for some Shopping I would rather stay close to airport than the city centers. My budget would be around Rs 1000-1500 per room. I would need either 2 rooms or a decent size suite.

I heard about Hotel Mars, but read some really unpleasant reviews. Same about Mount Heera as well...I am really concerned because I have a baby and also 2 elders with me. It is for travel this weekend. Any immediate help would be greatly appreciated.

I guess looking for a hotel at this late date is rather urgent - have you checked the hotel listings here (on red bar at top of page)? I should imagine Chennai hotels that are reputable will be fine for you with a baby, the same as good hotels elsewhere in India.

Thanks for your concern...there was no danger. This was a rather unplanned trip and I got only 2 days left to make my hotel reservation and then I will be on road/air. I read about some of these 3star hotels having cockroaches running around and not so clean bath-rooms. That was my concern with the baby possibly running/crawling around. Please advice.

Cockroaches mostly come out in the night. You will be lucky to entirely avoid them on a trip to India. Maybe five-star travelling...

They are more afraid of you than you of them, and will usually scarper if you get near them.

I know nothing of near-airport hotels, except Mars has been recommended by members here. Le Royale Meridien i sjust up the road, but I'd guess its several times your budget.

Thanks Guys...I am back in US now after the trip to India. We stayed in "Hotel Mount Manor"...It was close to Airport...It was pretty decent and the food and service was excellent. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Thanks for the feedback. Can you tell us how much it cost, and an address if you have one?

Even better: add it to the new hotels section!

Yes, it is on the GST road, on the main road itself. Close to Airport. Tarif was about Rs 1700 for a Delux double A/C, including a compl. breakfast. Food at the resturant was very good.

Oh yes, I regularly pass that way and recalled the name. I actually saw that hotel yesterday, looked good...
