Ayurvedic Massage places in Chennai?
I am looking for some good massage places in Chennai.
The past couple of weeks have been very hectic at work and I need to relax and rejuvanate a bit. I tried googling and the only place that seemed to pop up everytime is 'Oryza', anybody been there? |

Oryza is to die for! however, they are not an ayurvedic spa, they are a "western" style spa.

There's an ayurvedic college, I think it is in Kutchery Road or near there. If you want real ayurveda you probably couldn't do better.
But I suspect it may not be very relaxing! I recall hearing of some place... maybe from Yogagal... perhaps she'll be along... <cross-posted; she was >

Thanks Yogagal
Well some people said that Ayurvedic massages are good, I dont mind a Western Spa if it serves the purpose. Truth is I've never been to a spa before, so do you think 'Oryza' would suit my requirements... |

Oryza on Chamiers Rd (up the road a bit from Amma Nanna supermarket) is excellent. I had a deep tissue massage there not long ago done by an Indonesian lady which was soooo good. Would definately recommend the place for massages. But not for other beauty stuff ie waxing. But i wont go into that story now!

the facials and any other beauty treatments I've had at Oryza were awesome, loved every minute, especially the long soak in the tub filled with roses. but I am extremely picky about massages and would never go to a spa for a massage, so can't comment on massages at Oryza.

Not VGP Golden Beach Resort
I wouldn't recommend this hotel.
Unfortunately, after receiving a nice, relaxing massage, the lady offered me an 'extra service'. Really disappointed and left me feeling dirty. It did seem all pukka. A proper ayurvedic place showing images / adverts of services and even the manager took me through the price list, explaining what each treatment entailed. |
