A paradox called Chennai... er... India
A piece by me about Chennai/India in today's edition of the "New Sunday Express" in South India. A nice surprise for me to see they've published it.

Wow! I turned straight to my copy of the paper to find and read the 'real thing', displayed with a colour picture and a blue background, one of only two articles on the page. Nice. Very nice. Congratulations

fabulous story! 102 days from today I leave to attend a Chennai yoga school. I've emailed your story to all my friends who want to know what Chennai is like. As for me, your story makes me want to go to India even more....

Glad you liked it. I also liked it, not least because they didn't butcher it in the editing process. I don't think they changed a word. After seeing it, I also want to go back! But I won't be going for a few months - just too hot there now.

"A couple of kilometers from Triplicane I entered Spencer Plaza on Anna Salai. Spencers is a cathedral to consumerism and is on par with the best that Singapore has to offer in sterile shopping malls. Inside, the place is a monument to cleanliness and order and outside there is chaos and pollution: air-conditioned paradise and pollution-choked hell. "
Hehehehe! Nothing about "Spencer" rates mentioned here? Even the auto ricks guys outside tune up their rates to the air conditioning inside! Still, quite a place! I work from the 6th floor of this place. There have been talks of moving our workplace to something more posh and modern downtown, but we are putting our foot down. After all, how many offices have their own malls?
