21 Days.....21 Restaurants!

I will be visiting family in Chennai from November 7th to November 28th. To keep things interesting I have decided to come up with a list of 21 Restaurants to visit. Your feedback and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

1) Murugan Idli shop - Idli, Vadai, Dosai
2) The Great Kabob Factory - - Non-veg Buffet
3) Barbeque Nation - Non-veg Prix Fix
4) Anjappar Chettinad - Nethili Fry, Crab Masala
5) Karaikudi Restaurant - Crab Masala, Mutton Brain Masala
6) Cholayil Sanjeevanam - Rajakeeyam meal

I recommend -

1. Cholayil Sanjeevanam - Adyar/Nungambakkam (Their USP is the health factor - Veg food with lot of greens, minimal oil and fats. Meals available for lunch is real tasty and healthy too).

2. Saravana bhavan - T Nagar/KK Nagar/etc. - Tasty traditional south indian fare. Their veg meals is my favorite.

3. Rasam - Purashawakkam - Again, a very traditional and authentic joint.

1) Murugan Idli shop - Idli, Vadai, Dosai (Already referred by you) Speciality - Idly and Dosa flour is made by hand and not in a grinder and hence they are soft and tasty.

2) The Great Kabab Factory - - Non-vegetarian Buffet (Already referred by you)

3) Barbecue Nation, T Nagar - Best Buffet and Barbecued Starters (Already referred by Delhiwala)

4) Mouthfull Restaurant (Now Called Flame Grill), T nagar. Speciality - Grilled Lamb, Barbecue Chicken, Chicken lollypop, Chicken Roll and Pot Biriyani

5) Punjabi Dhaba, Cenatoph Road - Authentic Punjabi Food

8) Palayakkaran Restaurant - Bazullah Road, T Nagar, Traditional kerala Food - Speciality - Sadhya (Meals)

9) Kumarakom Restaurant - Kodambakkam High Road (Near Palmgrove Hotel) and Nandambakkam - Opposite to DLF IT Park, Traditional kerala Food - Speciality - Karimeen (This Fish is available only in Vembanadu Lake in Kumarakom and its flown in everyday fresh from there to chennai)

10) Karaikudi Restaurant - K K Nagar, Cathedral Road and Vijayaraghava Road, T Nagar - Authentic chettinad dishes. Speciality - Crab Masala and Mutton Brain Masala

11) Rathna Cafe - Triplicane, T nagar (Near TTD) and Velacherry - Speciality Authentic south indian dishes, Dont miss their Sambar.

12) Anjappar Restaurant - K K Nagar, Authentic chettinad dishes. Speciality - Crab Masala and Nethili Fry

13) Sangam Restaurant - Egmore Near Don Bosco and K K Nagar, Authentic chettinad dishes. Speciality - Crab Masala and Nethili Fry

14) Fisherman's Fare - Egmore and Anna Nagar, Buffet and Unlimited starters (Sea Food) Value for Money

15) Cascade Restaurant - Nungambakkam High Road, Best Chinese food. Value for money

16) Amaravathi Restaurant - Cathedral Road, Opposite to Music Academy - Authentic Andhra dishes. Speciality - Ayira Meen Kozhambu. Dont miss their Prawn fry and Chicken lollypop

17) Thalapakattu Biriyani - Original from Dindigul. Although lot of fakers are there, The original branch is in Anna Nagar. Authentic chettinad dishes. Speciality - Mutton Biriyani

18) There are three food courts in Chennai where you can try your hand in all the dishes (Tandoori, Chat Items, Chettinad dishes, South Indian snacks and dishes, Chinese, Italian, Arabian etc)

Planet Yumm, Spencer's Plaza - Mount road

19) Food Court - Citi Center, Cathedral road, Mylapore. You can also catch up a movie in one of the INOX screens.

20) Ascendas food court - Taramani - Huge one compared to other too. Lots of choices including KFC, Mc Donalds, Pizza Hut etc

21) I am leaving the 21st day open becasue, if you try even 50% of this restaurants, there is a high chance of you running away at the sight of food. I myself feel like that after typing this list. All the very best and enjoy your stay in chennai.
