Krishna's role in Mahabarat is ambiguous. One thing that has always appealed to me about this (and other) Hindu epic is that it reflects true life in that no one is 100% bad or 100% good. In the worst of people there is some redeaming feature or action, and in the best of people there is something dodgy.

Krishna's actions are always towards achieving what has to be achieved, and in that he is not only unsqueamish, but absolutely ruthless. He is up against low-life politicians and nasties and is absolutely prepared to play their game to defeat them. He does, simply, what has to be done.

Lets not forget that some of the coolest gods are the greek gods and the swedish gods from the Mythologys!

Heres a Pic of Hermes to remind you! (By the way my parents are Greek)

The largest selling car in India has Hanuman’s name – Maruthi . Hanu in Sanskrit means the jawbone. Hanuman means, the one with broken jaw. It was broken with Indra’s weapon. Also Maruthi means son of the (Lord) Wind. That is why he is able to fly.

Of all the iconic Gods arguably Ganesha carries the maximum symbolism. The rat as his vehicle symbolizes the reach. Probably rat is the creature which can reach anywhere from the tip of a tree to the underground in no time. And almost every thing attributed to him is explained (like the broken tusk, small eyes, big head, big tummy etc)

Anyone heard of Kamadenu (and that is why cow is so sacred here)

Agnostic as I am, who can resist that cheery elephantine face?

Of course Ganesh gets my vote
