Just heard from him last week -- says it was the first time here in a while and he's missing India and IM.

Actually quite a few of the old members that are no longer active still drop around from time to time for an occasional Q (picklepak) or greeting (WWUSA), check out a few threads (Tomi), update their journal (Midnight Toker) or just get in touch with some old friends by PM (chrissawka).

Most of us have to give up active posting while travelling and sometimes it is difficult to get back 'into the swing of things' on returning and with the heavy numbers of posts and threads these days, I can vouch for that problem. Sometimes members' travel itch moves them to looking for new vistas as well.

I do miss Midnight Toker's interesting posts and helpful replies -- but I also miss those of Alan D, Mike, Maree, Rab and Steve who although 'around', don't find time to post as much as before either.

What about Bryan, one of the first people I got to recognise around here - a really welcoming sort of fellow, shame he's disappeared.

I agree.

I miss M.T., maree, Paanwallah, Neoncarrot and many many more.

BTW.

Mala was never kicked off the site, she was keeping bad company (or more correctly, bad company was trying to keep her), she left for a while when she got insulted be one of my posts (who me ), even though the post was not directed at her, though in my usual way, it was a poorly worded post from an overworked (at the time) moderator, she was more than welcome back.

SOS: Missing Person...

Please look at this thread, even if you are not in India.: Have you seen Jonathan Spollen?

He could be anywhere now: You might have met him, be able to help, or give information.

Neoncarrot

I will second Dr. Funkenstein's nomination of Neoncarrot. Last spring I was a regular reader of Neoncarrot's website about Kulu Valley. As I read I kept repeating the mantra "You will go to Manali. You will go to Manali." I did so in late October 2004. It was Neoncarrot who led me to IndiaMike. Wish I was in Kulu Valley NOW. It is the season! The last week of May is the best week of the year in Kulu Valley. That is when ex-Prime Minister Vajpayee would go AWOL from Delhi and head for the hills at Prini on the east bank of the Beas River near Jagatsukh.

Yes, I remember there was some sort of kerfuffle. I'm glad it is resolved.

Architis....
Is that the same Archits who used to cut and paste long articles on the TT?
I started out by posting on TT India before emigrating permanently to Indiamike.
I seem to remember that he caused flame wars, foaming at the mouth and rows like you wouldn't believe.

Last I saw of him was when I discussed the 'benefits' of Maoism to the people of Nepal with him.

I agree with Nick, it's nice to see VolgaVolga appearing again, and I'd like to hear more from Rab, the OP himself.

I spoke to Neoncarrot on the phone a couple of months ago and he's not best pleased to be back in Britain, to say the least. Agree about the blog, too. Some great stuff on village life in Himachal. Everything from Dussehra to bat-infested apple orchards. Great stuff.

I agree. I saw him on line a couple of weeks ago and fired off a quick pm to say hello but was not quick enough I guess.

I miss ashish0608 and indiaguide. Apart from being sensible posters, they're both great individuals as well.

Don't see dayglowhamster around that much anymore, although we don't have many SL queries nowadays. And indiamike himself seems to be overworked to post much nowadays except for forum related queries.

Another vote for dayglo

Yeah...I really miss dayglohampster's writings. These were the first postings that really brought Sri Lanka alive for me.
