That's easy. Tamil Nadu. But maybe the choice should be Kerala or Tamil Nadu. That's a harder choice - may have to flip a coin... -Greg

i personally love Kerala too but if its between Karnataka and TN, I vote for Karnataka. Hampi, Halebid, Belur, Pattadkal, Aihole, Badami for ancient temples and architecture Nagarhole, Kabini, BR Hills, Bandipur, Ranganathittu for national parks/bird sanctuary Gokarna for the beaches Bangalore is way more hip than chennai for the city life, food and shopping Mysore for palaces and small town feel Udipi/Mangalore for coastal food, temple town and gadbad icecream. Maybe you could do Karnataka and Kerala as Kerala has some amazing beaches, backwaters, and different flavor too. Nothing against TN mind you.. just my own personal bias and favorites. |

call me virulently biased but go to TN! :-) I'm from TN but I work out of Karnataka now. The only upside I can think of which might influence *you* if you had read about the travails of India sojourns
i) better buses & connections ii) a wee bit more traffic sense (from 100% pyscho to umm... 95%?) not that you're going to notice the difference. :-) iii) they make better dosa, sambar & idli, if you're into that sort of thing. iv) it's got The Hindu Newspaper(no, it's not a religious paper) head & shoulders above the trashy Times of India. the TOI i'd equate with the Sun tabloid whose byline should be 'whatever,as long as she has big tits' |

Personally, I think the TOI does /not/ even pretend to have veneer of journalistic ethics but just publishes whatever nonsense it can think of. Let me explain a bit about their operations. The main pages will have some politics & local sensational stuff, then the local news about corrupt this or that, a sob story, followed by columnists & editorials(some of which are guest written by indian, MNC companies CEOs), then followed by a religous pieces about hedonism, greed, lust etc, followed by sports & then by a supplement with all the pretty pics. When challenged, like the Sun, they start blowing smoke about women's right to expose themselves & feminist stuff while at the same time railing at the cultural corruption of youth & country. which just about sums up TOI. |

Times of India
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
v) it's got The Hindu Newspaper(no, it's not a religious paper) head & shoulders above the trashy Times of India. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- While not at all objecting to the comments on Times of India (someone somewhere called it the Slimes of India which seems apt), I would like to clarify a couple of things a) Hindu is published from Bangalore too b) Bangalore's very own paper is Deccan Herald, which maintains a pretty good standard. Cheers Slakhs |

Hill stations / Coffee - tea Estates - Madikere, Chickmaglur, Kudremukh Heritage : Hampi, Bijapur, Belur, Halebid, Shravanabelagola, Aihole, Pattadakkal, Badami, Mysore Wild life National parks : Nagarhole, BR Hills, Anashi national park, Bandipur, Rangannathitu... Beaches : Mangalore, Malpe, Maravanthe, Karwar Fishing - Cauvery fishing camp, Bhimeshari City - Bangalore.. What more.....from Karnataka...u can cover..these places too in Kerala - Wyanad, Thekkady in Tamilnadu - Ooty, Mudumalai, Masinagudi So, Go Karnataka !!! It is a good option |
