Oh we've had some crazy hot summers Nick. Although it's always the is the glass half empty or half full question I guess: People like to complain, so others say we've had horrible summers.
(If you ask me it's mostly been unseasonal: Blistering hot in spring, then overly wet in summer, then crazy in autumn again, and no winters to speak of. A pain for farmers of course, to put it very mildly. Then it's all blamed on global warming. Which I'm convinced is happening, but I don't think it can be measured in the course of a few summers. So if you ask me again which you didn't, I think it means nothing. I never really understood why people moved out to these gloomy marshlands in the first place, a few thousand years ago. I guess because on average it offers a moderate climate, with all the safety yet dreariness of moderation that entails. But that tells you little about the extremes of course. At least we don't have to suffer from starvation after a failed crop anymore, if perhaps we do from price rises, unlike many others around the globe.)

Last year's summer in England was more like a monsoon.
But I remember, once, arriving in Chennai one August day to find it cooler than the London I'd just left! A rare experience! |

Ah that sounds more like the country I know: complaining about the weather! :-)
But your post makes me a little homesick.. I almost forgot how wonderful spring in NL can be, how happy everyone becomes when the first sun is finally seen in April or May, how pleasant Amsterdam becomes, and how amazing the parakeets in my wonderful city are! Though hedgehogs is not something I have seen often in the city. But in Oud-Zuid (Old South) and Oud-West (Old West) there must be plenty in the gardens, I think. I don't know, reading your post I figured you were in South America or so.. only the hedgehogs made me wonder a bit... .Three more weeks.. I hope it is still spring when I am back home for a bit. And.. thanks for the compliment. ![]() |

I hope so too, Sanna. May be a good occasion for another A'dam meetup? If you'll be around these parts, of course. With another member, Rotterdam or thereabouts could also be an option, and would be fun for a change. (Thinking now: Utrecht would be nice really, connected by night train to A'dam at least and probably some other cities, and a fun city for a night out.)
Anyway if you're interested, we could take it on to the A'dam meets thread. |

Aahh, you're getting prepared for Hyderabad, Ignite; supposed to be 111 on Thurs! Not quite like the 65 (18) that we're having in Seattle. Rained earlier today, but looks like it's cleared up now. Never can tell, though... |

I think the temp here today is the same as yours chAos! It's a big cold change from all the nice warm weather I've been experiencing in NZ and now in 'windy Wellington' with rain hovering about and cloudy.

If the papers are to be believed we can now expect a steady 42-43 C from now on minimum....and power cuts..
