Any chance of photos? I bet you have a long enough lens to be out of disturbance range. Please contribute to the bird thread!

Nice!

My gardens are hummingbird heaven, they've been buzzing around constantly. The males are very territorial, I've seen them fighting and they yell at each other.

Found a nest from last year this spring when I was cleaning up the gardens and was surprised that it was not higher up in the spruce branches where I found it. So small and delicate.

HA! I'm in a coffee table book about yoga people and was called a "thought leader in North American yoga."
That was my 15 minutes of fame.

That and $3 will get me a Starbucks, girl. If I'm lucky!

Today's e-mail spam.

Looking for an abusive relationship? Well, some people do...

I'm surprised that e-mail spam seems to be on the rise again. Most people now seem to regard it as being as old-fashioned as a quill pen

No. In gnostic angelology, the 'u' is extra silent in 'cherbs' and not even spelt, according to the writer, Pseudo-Dionysius the Areopagite.

Flood Healing

The worst thing (okok... one of the worst things) was loss of books. Quite a few modern paperbacks by favourite authors (like the stack of number-one favourites by my bed) were easy to trace, and not too expensive to replace. The Shorter Oxford English Dictionary turned up cheap and second-hand in a place I didn't even expect to find second hand books! So that was was my parents' 18th-birthday present back on the shelf.

I was actually in the jewellery hobby when I bought Jewellery Concepts and Technology. Over 800 pages of description of just about every method and trick of the trade out there. I found it in a second-hand bookshop. They had two copies, not used but remaindered I suppose, and cheap. A friend of mine who was a full-time jeweller took one look at the book and rushed to buy the other copy.

It must be nearly thirty years since I last had the pleasure (not to mention the skill) of watching silver come to red heat and seeing the gleaming line of solder fill the join --- but still, I have the interest in how things are made. The last thing I looked up in that book was how those Indian bangle screws are made. I'd thought about it, and yes, it was there and I was right. I liked having that book on the shelf. I had thought it was out of print and unavailable.

Somewhat more expensive this time, especially as it came from America, but, courtesy of Amazon...

Now, I want The Moths of the British Isles, by E B Ford, in two volumes. That was my parents' 15th-birthday present.

Seriously?! I get spammed with my own business email daily! At least they don't put my biz email with porn. Yet.

I get a ton more spam than regular emails. What with the Yahoo hack -- email addresses stolen -- and the Equifax credit bureau hack of over 140,000,000 names, numbers, bank account numbers, email addresses, I'd be very surprised if people DIDN'T get more spam!
