what was new this year?

what are a couple of things you noticed this year that were different or changed from your last trip to India. For first-timers, what are a couple of things that your research didn't prepare you for?

Of course, not all of us were lucky enough to hit the road this winter, and some of our members may still be there -- chip in what you like.

For me, I was a few months in Goa (via Mumbai) so nothing very profound, but a couple of observations:

1. an explosion of new ATMs -- ICICI is even installing them in some petrol stations! (on the other hand, haven't found one that will accept my bank card)

2. High speed internet in Mumbai -- many shops around Colaba with 40rp/hr high speed links, a few with signs indicating hook-ups for laptops.

You?

I had been to india last year and 5 years before...the biggest difference I noticed was the increase of traffic ,much more private cars and of course much more accidents,
I tried to visit places like restaurants, shops temples I went to some 5 years ago, still the same people were working at this places,
just 5 years older
in western countrys it s quite common to change the working place every few years, but i guess in India they stay a lifetime at the same place(which I couldn t )
It s great to have much more ATM,changing money at the bank is still a great hassle for me...(
Also it seemed to me that there were some 100 million Indians more compared to my ´visit 5 years ago
