what to wear
wat sort of things should be worn and are acceptable in Delhi? Are 'on-the-knee' skirts ok...........if they're not tight? Im just a bit unsure about whats acceptable? Also, is a big shirt over a strappy top ok? or again is it pushing it a bit?
What do all you girls wear in Delhi?! |

Delhi is also a notoriously "touchie- feely" place.(even if you are Indian in a punjabi suit)..Don't think any other place in India comes close in this respect, but me being male, could be wrong.

chownie, what and where are you going to do in Delhi? what kind of people you are likely to encounter during your stay? WHEN r u going? (delhi has cold weather also).
r u male or female? for female: generally no skirts but tight jeans OK (could never understand that - but prob'ly no show of flesh is the rule), short sleeves OK but no spagetti stripes, and you can bare your midreef (think sari). ok skirts but long ones! to cover your ankles. this is the dress code not to attrack extra unwanted attention. if you are working in the office, look at what ppl wear. if you stay in a foregin owned hotel, wear what you fancy! but bikini only near the swimming pool, the hotel does not want to outrage their Indian guests. if you stay in Paharganj dress modestly. also do a search on dress/clothes, the matter has been discussed at length. best advice i had was to have salwar kameez made for you - my co-workers appreciated this also.
