Well, I should be out in the city with my fiancee, but I'm working on an upgrade to the hotels section on IM. Looks like I'm as hooked as the members on the site...!

I should be studying President Andrew Jackson's Messsage to Congress on Indian Removal, 1830

Instead I'm reading Indiamike, and The Man in Seat Sixty-One . . ., and looking forward to going away in 4 weeks.....

Oh no ... I just came across Wazen's thread for the first time.
Well, I say "just" - I mean two whole HOURS ago.

I should be getting some shut-eye, with an early start tomorrow. I'm going to be dreaming strange dreams tonight.

What good man would prefer a country covered with forests and ranged by a few thousand savages to our extensive Republic, studded with cities, towns, and prosperous farms embellished with all the improvements which art can devise or industry execute, occupied by more than 12,000,000 happy people, and filled with all the blessings of liberty, civilization and religion?

And is it supposed that the wandering savage has a stronger attachment to his home than the settled, civilized Christian? Is it more afflicting to him to leave the graves of his fathers than it is to our brothers and children? Rightly considered, the policy of the General Government toward the red man is not only liberal, but generous. He is unwilling to submit to the laws of the States and mingle with their population. To save him from this alternative, or perhaps utter annihilation, the General Government kindly offers him a new home, and proposes to pay the whole expense of his removal and settlement.

I am supposed to be sorting through all of the contents of our home and purging everything that needs to go. We are a military family and being transferred from Hawaii to Washington D.C. The movers arrive on April 29th and I'm only about halfway done. So, thanks India Mike for rescuing me from the drudgery. Will you also rescue me from the mess that will follow me from here to there if I don't get off my a** and get it done!

I arrived back from India 2 weeks to the day. I SHOULD be looking for employment but instead I'm checking out what's the latest on IndiaMike.

Some books I had sent back arrived today and I spent 5 minutes just sniffing the packaging.

Scarlet - am I right in assuming you'll be leaving the bikinis and surfboards behind!? You know what they say - any boxes you didn't unpack after the last move... leave them behind!

KristinM,

We are actually VERY good about not carrying a whole heck of alot around. We've moved TWENTY THREE ... yes that is 23 ... times in the last 20 years. Most of what I am purging is actual trash, paperwork and other stuff. OH ... and we are TAKING the surfboards and bikinis. We are, perhaps being too optimistic in hoping to get to surf off the coast of North Carolina!!! Notice ... its been a couple of hours and I'm still online. Time to go clean the grill.
