Slightly OT, but does anyone have any suggestions for using essential oils in a burner as a mosquito repellant?

Apparently Eucalyptus Citriodora Pure Essential Oil works well... its a lemon (citronella type of smell) scented eucalyptus smell... they use it in natural mosi repellants... its from china i think and is a type of eucapytus plant... i will try it next week when we get to india... very excited

Absurdly expensive by Indian standards, but my favourites are the products of Prinknash Abbey, UK. see here, second link on the menu.
And my favorite is Sanctuary

I think thereason is they all got fake smells. You can bu the greek orthodox incese, they look like small rocks and you can burn them on coals or on the stove plate. Thoes are good. becourse they are natural.

oooh thanks!!! I love HEM incense. Very strong. Nag Champa is very good but I burn 4 sticks at a time for a "punch". I like really strong fragrant Indian incense and the cycle brand was a favorite but I can't get it here in the U.S. I load up whenever I'm in India on a variety. Actually, haven't ever gotten a bad brand that I can remember. I'm totally hooked on incense. My only other addiction being chocolate (I don't think chocolate incense would be very good though![]() |

The one i really cherish is the one i rarely see .I don't no it's name, first came across it in the middle east .An amber colored crystel (Resin) Whitch when heated gives a lot of smoke and a truely invigerating smell .When next spotted i was in Kumily, Kerala.Walking through some woods (jungle)looked up at a large tree ,and there it was again ,Dried sap ouzing out of the trunk .Broke some off ,heated it ,same smell
Cut of a fair amount and treasured it all the way back to the U.K. Ran out last week ,damn ,got to go back for more now Does anyone no the local name for it ??? I think i saw it being used in Kumily, a chap was going round the stalls, shops' with a small brazier heating it , insect repelent ? ,Just to smell nice??? |

Well, DD... 10GBP a box is a bit more than a packet of Indian sticks! This is the stuff they use in RC churches in UK, and it smells wonderful.
But, only look, DD; no buying--- but I give you very good price! Actually I'm not much of a bargainer, I don't enjoy it, so I let people get away with overcharging me. My UK Malu Ex-GF, on the other hand, was ruthless: often to my great embarrasment! |

Nagchampa.
I never knew what it was but they were burning at a hotel in Dunche before we started the Langtang Trek and I think that is really the first time I remember loving incense. When I got back to Sydney I was at a meditation class and they were burning it. And I was like what incense is that. From then on I always bought Nagchampa. |
