Favourite incense............cinnamon scented made by a 9 year old girl in a roadside hut in the hills near Hue, Vietnmam, as she giggled away at my hamfisted attempt follow her tuition. Down to my last packet. It will be a sadday when the last one is burnt. They are a powerfull memeory trigger.

No favorite. Depends on the mood
But I keep kilos of them in my closets so all my clothes have a fantastic scent mix.

Hey............this is a great forum........let's hear about more incense faves

Mine:
  1. Sai Flora and it burns for ages
  2. Nag Champa - also burns for ages
  3. Spiritual Guide
That Laxmi Dhoop for outside use sounds tremendous - is it the cone type or stick??? Expensive??

Nag Champa is an extremely fragrant flower....a lot of incense sticks use its oil for fragrance...thus the name to the incense.

Nag Champa shrubs are notorious for attracting snakes...especially cobras. Thus they are never reared in home gardens. The shrubs are always found in the wild and people shun them as they invariably play host to snakes.

Who knows what slithering serpent is considering your dear home as its own???

Hey relax! The snakes want the shrubs and not the fragrance. While it is a common fact in india that snakes inhabit the thick overgrowth of a Nag Champa ('Mogali' in South India),there is no proof of their attraction to the smell. Probably the sweet smell is warning to human beings to keep off.

Even if it is the fragrance that attracts them, there is another extremely evil smell that will keep them off limits forever. Human smell!

It is a soft stick about 1/2" x 5" - here it is available at Indian markets in the Puja supply areas - inexpensive. Has a slight tarry petroleum kind of smell mixed with the perfume that reminds me of India. Very smoky - good for keeping mosqitoes away too.
The Bhavna 100% pure sandal cones (also made by Laxmi Dhoop) are really nice for inside use - my current fave.

I am glad to know I am not the only incense head on the site.Since I returned from India I have become addicted to the stuff and only a whiff takes me straight back there. My children think I have turned completely mad and only this am at brekky my 10 yr old was counting my incense holders.I just discovered the incense cones in a great shop in Toowoomba so now I am in heaven. We will be heading back in June, with an extra backpack to stock up on a new supply.Nag Champa is a favourite but I have also discovered a shop in Brisbane which stocks Tibetan incense which is a little thicker, their sandalwood is to die for.Any cures for the addiction would be gratefully received.

Hey Callous - who needs a cure - I'm also addicted and wouldn't have myself committed for all the incense in India!!! .

India Edge - I'll have to wait till my trip to Arizona to get some. Don't think I'll be able to find any here The only things we have a lot of here are mosquitoes, but it would be great to have something NICE to keep them away!!! Aaahhhh well........

Sambrani is an eternal favourite.

In many households, Babies are treated with Sambrani smoke after they are given a bath. The icky sweet after-fragrance beats Johnson & Johnson Baby Powder any day.

Hey! don't get wild ideas about babies being smoked like salmons. They are held high over the source of the sambrani smoke for a few seconds, with their eyes covered.
