What Is Making You Feel "grrr" Today ?

What made me sad today...

Our living-room AC unit (outdoor section) had a part replaced a few weeks ago, with one the guy happened to have in the shop. He left the small cover off the electrical connections section, pending a permanent replacement.

Today, Mrs N noticed a couple of sparrows coming, often, to our garden wall near the unit. I went out to investigate, and yes, they were nesting in it. Luckily we caught this on the first day; I checked carefuly, and there was nothing but the very first bits of twig inside. What would we have done if we had found a nest? I think we would have to have simply turnied the thing off until the babes had flown.

It would have been lethally dangerous to nest in there, just among the live wires, and with a big fan close by, but I still felt mean closing it up... and even more so, to see a couple of sparrows looking lost and confused, even a couple of hours later.

The worst thing is, we have always meant to put up nest boxes for them .

The sparrows seemed to have almost disappeared a few years back. I'm glad to see them back these days. Just today I saw many. But that should belong to the happy thread.

The grrr... part is, I'm fighting a seemingly unwinnable battle trying to stop some mynahs from building a nest on top of my garage door. I keep removing the material, and in five minutes they are back there again! Don't know why the birdbrained creatures are not getting the message. ... And I'm not feeling any remorse removing the nest either, .... raucous birds...

I had some crows trying to build a nest in my chimney, but my kind neighbour went up and stuffed some chicken wire down it.

What makes me grrr (generally, not particularly today) is when people refer to cities by their airport code.
I don't really know why it makes me angry but it does.

I would have to say I live near ORK, and that's just ridiculous ...

I agree... and certainly won't be telling you about my forthcoming train trip from MAA to ALL!

That's because you can't, if you intend to start from 'Madras'. You'd have to start from MAS instead, if you are taking the train!

All this follows on recent newspaper articles in which various officials assured us that there would be no need for any power cuts in TN this year! The crap these people talk: GRRR!

Yes, we are relatively lucky. I understand that 12-hour cuts are common in rural areas.

I meant... in rural areas of TN, rather than referring to where you are. I know that central Chennai is supposed to get off lightly in these matters (I really don't know why, and guess it must be pure politics); I don't know how other TN cities are affected.

That's because in India honking is supposed to melt away the traffic in front of you! It works too. If you keep your horn button pressed for half-an-hour, the traffic in front eventually does melt away, to let you move! One-to-one correlation. Simple.
