What hobby to choose?
Hi
I am seriously thinking about pursuing some new hobby as my office gets over early and I get bored in the evenings. It would be helpful if you can suggest a few and point me to some places(in chennai) where i can learn these things. Thanks Radjesh |

Spend some more time on IM
Spend some more time on Indiamike. Afterwards, you will become addicted and will leave job too.. (the worse, family too..)
Just kidding. Madras is a good place to learn music, as already pointed out. Go for violin/carnatic. Or Yoga (Gym is not a bad idea, but becomes more monotonous). Try painting. Go for watercolor. Not much toxic. WT |

Stamps or coins if you have an intellectual bent. Books take up too much room (says my spouse)..

Try aero modelling or scale aircraft modelling if you have patience or something more interesting like Astronomy. If you have an eye for pictures then try photography. Lots of different hobbies that you may do in a short time after work that you may chose from but I just gave you what I do in my free time besides being on IM!!! Hope you find something interesting to do once you are home from work.
Cheers, Aadil.

looks like you got a few facetious replies, but it's a hard question for others to answer for you! what interests you? what are your goals for a new hobby? to meet people? to express your creativity? to learn a new skill? do you want something visual? intellectual? relaxing? exhilerating? drawing a blank? think about what things, large and small, over the course of a day or week, draw your attention. scan a list of arts and cultural events in the weekend paper. what attracts you? if you went into a libray or bookstore, which section would you visit first? if you were to visit a museum, which one would you choose and why? the best hobby is a hobby that reflects who you. sometimes, we don't even know. a week of self-observation might help you choose a direction. the possibilities are endless, but also highly personal. best of luck finding a hobby that you enjoy.
