A lovely owner of a guest house and I have been emailing eachother. He keeps saying 'saheb' and I was hoping someone could tell me what it means. He also says 'khamaghani Andy saheb'

Saheb is a lot well known (apart from the OP i.e.)
But the 'kamangani' is very new to me as well. And I am an Indian... perhaps a dumb one.

is typically used in Rajasthan or some places in Kutchh.
Khammaa is a corruption of kshamaa [ forgiveness ]
ghaNi is "much".
"many forgivenesses, milord" is how it could sound in English.
This is how the subjects used to address their kings. The old generation are still used to their old ways. All in all its a wonderfully polite way to greet anyone, even today!!

When you are in a difficult situation and you wish to implore the aid of an official or just plead with a taut to leave you be; open hands saying Bhai Sahib Ji, with your head slightly rolled and shoulders slightly raised works a treat.
