What did you bring home from India? Anything unusual? Out of the ordinary other than photos and fabulous memories? I'm curious

A fabulous coffee table, 100cm long x 45cm wide x 45cm.
Bought it in Mysore 13 years ago and it's still going strong.
It's inlaid with a beautiful picture of elephants bathing, trees in the background.

We carried it back on the plane, with me carrying the table legs in my hand luggage. How things differ, you'd never get away with this nowadays.

Saris, fabric, clothes, Tibetan prayer flags, carved stone elephants, heaps of Rs 5 size toiletries for weekend travel, beautifully hand embroidered silk shawls, bags of yummy apricot kernels, my stunning bronze Ganesha and - once - a highly illegally imported HUGE box of mangoes which literally half filled my suitcase!

Many of the above mentioned, except for the mangoes! The painted, wooden figures are being eaten by some invisible critters.

A coffee table! That's pretty unique alright Did you carry the top or check it into baggage?

A wife ... *sigh* how very, very romantic you guys How can we go to India and not fall in love .... in some way, shape or form?

I brought back a miniature painting of Lord Kishna cavorting with one of his ladies in the jungle, its quite beautiful and a bit lush n erotic. A brass Ganesha given to me by my dear friends from B'lore, he sits on my dash in my truck and rides with me everywhere I go; I bought enough cardamom tea in Ooty to last me another three months (YUMMMMMMM!!); silver earrings, inlaid bowls and a sandalwood Ganesha ... lots of goodies for my girlfriends and a wonderful silver dagger with a tiger on the grip for my son. Most of the things I got were gifts. Most of what I kept (get ready for the mush, stop reading now if you can't handle it!) is in my heart and my head -- a lifetime of fabulous memories and adventures with my daughter and best friend. Ah wait, but I do have a lil brass elephant about an inch square, that stays in my pocket with me every day. One touch and I know I'm there ....

Sentimental lady LMAO!

Oh, I did bring home rocks and red dirt, too

The worst cold of my life. Twice.
Also an exquisite miniature painting of a tulip done by an artist in Jaipur.

I've been collecting Indo-Islamic Pottery since I happened across my first piece about 10 years ago in a back alley of Old Delhi. The collection has grown quite a bit since then and also includes some old bronzes, papier mache boxes, tibetan silver work etc. I've kind of thrown it all together it one little corner of the house, added a few chairs and is a nice quiet place to retreat to when reading about the subcontinent or just to relax.
