i didnt know where to post it to shere goes, i had a spa business in ny before i moved back to india, planning on starting up agin, need some input / thought from you all, here is sort of a portfolio of what we do do let me know what you guys / girls think
Opps PS it will be in delhi Body Wraps. The patient's body would be cleansed and exfoliated first, to remove any layers of dead skin cells. Then the body would be covered in a layer of body mask. There are various different types of body masks - such as seaweed, algae, clay, mud, or lotion, depending on the specific treatment. After the body mask is applied, the patient's body is wrapped for about 20 minutes to keep the body and skin warm. Once the body wrap is removed, the mask is washed off and the treatment is finished with an application of moisturizer or lotion. Body wraps can also be referred to as body cocoons or body masks. There are benefits to getting a body wrap. Treatments that include mud, clay, seaweed or algae are detoxifiers and help rid the body of any bad toxins through the stimulation of the metabolism. Treatments that include lotions and creams such as shea butter have hydrating effects and can leave the skin feeling soft and smooth. Typical body wrap sessions begin with an exfoliation of the skin using a salt scrub (which is a mixture of sea salt and oils rubbed on the body) or dry brushing (which involves brushing the body with a body brush that has natural bristles). The patient then lays down on whatever it is they will be wrapped in, which is usually a form of plastic but sometimes it can be towels or sheets. It will include a bit of massage in the treatment as the body mask is applied to the body. Once the product is on the body, you are wrapped to stay warm as the body mask works its magic on your skin. A scalp massage is given while waiting. When the 20 minutes is up, the wrap is removed and the body mask is immediately washed off. Because of this step, the body wrap procedure usually takes place in wet rooms, which have wet tables or showers. You will either jump into a shower to rinse yourself off, or I may rinse your body using a handheld shower. This is kind of like taking a shower lying down. Finally, you are dried off and a lotion is applied to your skin to seal in moisture. Body wraps are a great for relaxation and skin rejuvenation. Relaxation Massage A relaxation massage is exactly what the name implies: a massage strictly for the purposes of rest and relaxation. This massage technique is not designed for therapeutic effects or for dealing with chronic pain or discomfort. During a session, the patient will remove most of their clothing and lie on a massage table , usually with some sort of thin sheet draped over the body. Usually a relaxation massage can be modified and tailored to your specific desires. The massage takes place in a quiet, comforting environment, with your choice of any music or candlelight in the background. The massage consists of the therapist applying gentle to medium pressure of the hands to the body, gently manipulating the tissue to promote relaxation. It is not a deep tissue massage. It is not designed for working the deeper muscles of the body, but just a gentle kneading and rubbing of the outer layers of the body tissue. It will cover a wide range of areas on the body including the back, legs, arms and neck. There is the option of adding some aromatherapy treatment to your massage therapy. High quality aromatherapy oils can heighten the holistic experience of the massage and allow for greater relaxation and restoration of one's energy balance. Of course, unscented oil is also an option. The oil produces a more slippery surface for the therapist to work on, so there is no pulling of the skin. During the massage, the patient can remain quiet and simply explore their own personal thoughts in their head, or they can chat with the therapist if so desired. The session can be personalized to be exactly how you like it. Many live their stressful lives day to day without taking any time off just for them. Everyone deserves a well needed moment of relaxation and this massage is just the right technique for that. It will relax your mind and body, giving you a break from the stresses of one's life. The length of the massage will depend on how long you would like it to last. Typically the option is between half an hour and two hours in length. Relaxation massage is a smooth, gentle style of massage designed to improve circulation, range of movement, relief minor muscle pain, and promote overall relaxation. Most people don't take enough time off for themselves anymore. It's about time you've pampered yourself with a relaxation massage! Swedish Massage Traditional Swedish massage was introduced by Swedish physiologist, Henri Peter Ling, in Stockholm , Sweden in the year 1812. This massage technique is characterized by its firm, yet calming pressure that improves blood circulation, eases muscle tension, and improves flexibility. The style employs a series of long, gliding strokes, kneading of the muscles, and vibrational taps that are so common when one thinks of massage. A Swedish masseuse will also create friction and do whats called hacking or tapping across a clients back and shoulders to promote the release of tension. Five basic strokes gliding, kneading, vibrations, friction and hacking are all applied in the direction of the heart in order to encourage blood circulation and the disposal of bodily waste. A Swedish massage uses massage oils to achieve the smooth, long and deep strokes over their clients body. Therapists apply the oil to reduce friction, and essential oils are sometimes used in order to tap into a clients olphactory senses (sense of smell). During a Swedish massage a sheet is worn, otherwise the client is nude.. Sports Massage This is a direct descendant of Swedish massage because both techniques help heal injuries like muscle sprain and spasms. Many of the techniques of sports massage such as strokes applied in the direction of the heart are borrowed from Swedish massage. This technique is just as important for athletes as it is for relaxation - the body is encouraged to disperse lactic acids in the muscles in order to make room for a fresh supply of blood and oxygen. Russian massage This integrates sports massage with the relaxing techniques of therapeutic massage. It offers a number of benefits because the style of the treatment depends on the physical makeup of an injury, rather than the person's body as a whole. The massage therapy can be received for those suffering from an injury, have an illness, or just want to promote general well-being. There are three main phases to a Russian massage and these apply to all patients. Only the specifics of each massage will be different depending on individual needs. The first phase is the slow, gentle stage. The therapist applies gentle massage techniques to the body, preparing it for the deeper manipulation that is part of the next phase. Also, this phase is important for the muscles to rest and the body be placed in a great state of relaxation. The second phase involves faster, deeper, and harder movements to the body by the massage therapist. This is the part of the massage that has the most therapeutic effects. It is also the most active phase as it involves intense manipulation of the body muscles to relieve tension and pain. Finally, there is the third stage during which the therapist switches back to the gentler, slower techniques. The slow movements are used to complete the session and to promote relaxation once again. All three stages are very important for the effectiveness of the massage. If the body is not warmed-up and relaxed before the deep manipulation of the muscle tissue, it will not produce healing results as well. Just the same, if the body is not relaxed after the massage has been performed, then it won't accept the therapy as well and may become tense or sore. The actual massage techniques used throughout the three stages include stretching, gliding, kneading, vibration, and friction. The amount of pressure applied during these techniques depends on the patient's body state and comfort level. The application of techniques will differ from person to person and the depth of the pressure ranges from light, to medium, to deep. There is no predetermined time for the massage as the actual length will depend on the reason for the massage, the patient's response to the therapy, and many other factors. It can last anywhere between thirty minutes to two to three hour. The therapy sessions usually stop once the patient has recovered from their injury or illness, but for people having the massage for strictly relaxation purposes then single sessions are sufficient. The massage has many benefits including increased blood and lymphatic flow, healing of acute injuries, relaxation, therapeutic effects, mind healing, and treatment of chronic medical conditions. Russian massage is a great healing therapy, so why not give it a try! |

I don't know anything about Delhi.
But, in the absense of the better-informed, here are my small thoughts... I think that if you could get into the niche market serving the rich and/or corporate expats you could do very well indeed. But what competition is there? who is doing it already? Sounds like time for a bit of on-the-ground market research. Otherwise, given that labour is so much cheaper in india and therefore service-based prices are low, you could do very well in the Indian market, but in Indian terms. My half-penny worth.

There are a couple of Day Spas in Delhi that offer many of the services that you are suggesting. One of them is Asian Roots. I don't remember the name of the other one. I think that it is Zeta (one of it's Spas is on the same complex that Olive is at). Many of the 5 star hotels also offer massages. There is a very good Karala (I don't know how to spell it, sorry) massage center in Delhi that is better priced. I think that the population that you are targeting your services for would go to a place like the one that you are planning but you need to keep in mind that there is competition that is well established, has a good reputation and your prices would need to be similiar to theirs. There are also some very nice Spas a couple of hours from Delhi that offer weekend programs.
You could look for their websites and get information on the services that they provide and the cost. Hope this helps. |
