Okay guys with the help of this wonderful bunch of people we had a really tremendous 3 weeks in South India. Too tired to give all the details now but basically our route was:
Mumbai, goa , Hospet and Hampi, Bangalore,Sravanabelagola, Belur , Halebid, Mysore,Cochin and then back up to Mumbai via Goa. What can I tell all you diehard India fans except that we were fascinated, amazed, moved, exhausted, delighted and lots of other adjs. Our taste and smell buds were titillated beyond belief. The kids (14 and 16) got addicted to aloo gobi, chai masalla and nans and we bought a lot of those ready pastes home with us from the very wonderful Nilgiri supermarket in Bangalore. Long live the Indian people and more to come after a sleep..... ![]() |

Hi piglet,
Glad to hear your trip was a success! I can definitely relate to the sensual bombardment that you talk about... I've also been back home for one day now and man, this is definitely going to take some getting used to. Just had a walk in town and it was totally deserted. No one calling after me, offering me anything, no noise, no color, no smells. I feel like I'm living in a silent black and white film. (After living in a Bollywood film for two months...)! I'm thinking that travellers to India don't need that much help before they go or even during the trip, it's afterwards that one needs debriefing! ![]() |

Welcome back, both of you! How do you like being "invisible" on the streets?
Please...share your hotel info, too!
