Visa services

I'm applying for an Indian tourist visa for the first time. It stated on the instructions that you need to send your passport with your application along with a money order covering the processing fees and return mailing fees. Do they send your passport back in the same envelope as your visa or do you need to provide a seperate money order to have this mailed back seperately? Any info would help.. Cheers,

Steve

Am I missing something? The visa stamp will be in the passport and I suppose, as like mine, in just one envelope..

In the UK we send a stamped self addressed recorded envelope in with the other documents which they use to send your passport back to you.

Confusing English on Visa Application

Hi,

I, too, have questions on the Indian Visa application.

QUESTION 1: My wife was born in India, moved here (USA) when she was 2, and has been a US citizen since late 1980's and is on her at least 2nd US passport since US citizenship. She traveled to India on the 1st US Passport in 1989 which was her last visit. In the US, when you get a new passport, you turn in your old one.

In view of the above, what does this mean:
Persons of Indian Origin applying for a visa for the FIRST time on US passport must submit their Indian passport along with the application form for cancellation and return. If the visa is required on a new US passport booklet, either previous US passport or photocopy of Indian visa are to be submitted with the application.
It seems like they are asking for the impossible.

Question 2: The application asks:
6. HAVE YOU EVER VISITED INDIA BEFORE?
If yes, give address where you stayed with dates or years:
Now, my wife has been to India thrice as a child and once as an adult, stayed in multiple locations. How do I fill this out? Are they serious?

Some of this is bureaucracy. Aside from my spouse nobody gives up their old Indian passport, they say they lost it. Saves tons of problems later as rules evolve. On the second just give relevant dates as can be remembered and let it go at that..
