When you are saying Paagal to somebody, why to give respect then???
better say, "tu pagal hai" or "kya tu pagal hai?"

This sentence doesn't really mean anything (literarly it's something like: do you have a crazy?).

"aap paagal hain?" or "kya aap paagal hain?" means:
"Are you crazy/mad?"
paisa bolta hai

Badaam milk is Almond milk. A kilo of badaam is a kilo of Almonds, well, in Bangalore anyway.
Ground nuts are peanuts. Badaam is Almonds.

I did mention I was talking about Bengali. A heinous crime, I agree, since this is a thread on Hindi words. My apologies.

The word badaam came from Farsi, -- Hindi doesn't have a patent on it. As I said, it means nuts of any kind in Bengali at least, and if one just asks for a kilo of badaam (without any qualification), one would get a kilo of groundnuts/peanuts in Bengal.

gosht = meat (a generic term for all kinds of meat)
bakra = goat
murga = chicken
machli = fish

for those who eat meat, these could be useful words.

The one I used a lot was BAAS, enough, stop.
The other one was to get kids laughing, I said CHOOHAA, and wrinkled my nose while pointing at someone. They would crack up.
So, does anyone know what choohaa means?
I was told to say it by my boss.
