Useful Hindi Words For Travellers

Travelling around I found out that there are certain words that can help you to get rid of insistant boring people who are just interested in selling things to you (hotels, carpets, information...) in which you are not interested at all. Also some specific expressions to ask for a discount,etc.

Does anybody know some of this words in hindi?

E.g.
leave me alone
go away
any discount?/give me a better price
etc.

Yes, of course, also these. Although, what I was asking for was sentences you don't find in dictionaries, but in the street.

For discount..just say 'Discount'...its very much a part of the Hinglish Indian vocabulary..(the spelling just flew outta my head..)

Like..Phonetically you could say..."Mooo_jay achhaaaa Discount Dhee_g_yea". This means "Give me a good discount" .

Moojay (as in j walking) = Me, myself
Achhaaa (chh as in cha cha cha)= good
Dheejeeyea= give

that's my point, isabel, your table (sorry) does not have the two expressions that I was asking. not every phrase book will teach you how to make compliments.

that's nice and how kind of you are the every day part of the English vocabularly... what are their equivalents in Hindi? i just want to be able to be nice to people who don't speak English - usually the ones outside the tourist line. like women on the market selling NICE hand-made pictures... women on the street inviting me to their houses...

Thats nice (referring to some object) = yeh bahut acchhaa hai / yeh bahut badheeyaa hai

Its very kind of you people = aap bhaley log hain / aap khaandaan log hain /

Its very kind of you (single person) = aap bahut acchhe hain / aap bahut bhaley hain (this is not a commonly used language form)

ha! just noticed something: medicine is "davai" in hindi
davai means "give me" (or "let's") in Russian.

so, "give me medicine", Russian+Hindi: davai davai.
