travel from London to orissa for two weeks

Hi, I'm travelling to Bubaneswar Orissa India starting on FEb 17th 2006. I aim to travel with 3 other people from London Heathrow to Delhi, then by Radjhani Express(train) from Delhi to Bubaneswar. However I cant find much info about the express. Prices, comfort, availabilty of booked compartments etc Has anyone done this particular journey...would be very grateful for any comments...and advice. I may also want to tie in a train journey to Darjeeling
before heading back to Darjeeling for the return flight home.
Maybe I should be doing all the booking through a Travel Agent, if so, any advice on a reliable one would be most helpful.
Thanks.
Deetayl.

1. Rajdhani Exp. is a superfast train, comfortable & safe. All meals are served during the journey, the ticket price includes this.
2. You should book in advance as these trains tend to get filled up quickly.
3. Visit Indian Railways site for info as well as online booking. Searchout the excellent posts on Indian rail travel by stevan_bar.
4. Fare will depend on what class you want to travel in. Rajdhani Express will have First class AC, 2-Tier AC & 3- tier AC.
5. From Bhubaneshwar take a the overnight train to Kolkata & another train to New Jalpaiguri, from here take the toy train to Darjeeling. From New Jalpaiguri take another train to Delhi or take a flight from Bagdogra the nearest air head for Darjeeling.
Hope it helps.

Rajdhanis are great fun. Actually, they are just like 2-tier A/C, but ample food is provided, and they go a bit faster (by Indian standards, anyway!) Just book well in advance - they are very popular.

I would suggest that you go by bus or shared-jeep from New Jalpaiguri to Darjeeling. When you arrive at New Jalpaiguri, take a rickshaw the 5km to Siliguri bus stand. You will find plenty of buses and jeeps waiting for you, with frequent departures. The Himalayan Mountain Railway ('Toy Train') takes 6.5 hours to do the 82km. It is often fully-booked some time in advance. The bus will only take about 2 hours !! If you want to ride on the steam train, there is a special trip Darjeeling-Ghoom-Darjeeling, with stops for photos along the way. You buy a ticket at Darjeeling station the day before.

Both above informations are very true.

Rajdhani A 3 tier costs to Bhubaneswar is Rs.1800 inclusinve of foods and meals.Journey hours 24 Hours and reach bhubaneswar at 6 Pm >on arriving prefer exit at No 1 platform.
From Bhubaneswar to darjeeling if u want a straight journey without stoping over Kolkatta then you can take Kochin Guwahati express in which you drop at New galpaiguri..and you find plenty drives you to darjeeling at Rs.120 per paerson by jeep.
Then chill out at Chaurastha in dajeeling.
