Traditional Gift Of Thanks

I have an Indian customer that has been really great. I would like to send her a thank you, and would to do something that has some culture to it. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am in CA, my customer is in New York, so I have to be able to mail/ups whatever it is. Thanks!

Don't know nearly enough about either your customer specifically or Indian customs in general to suggest a thank you gift for her, but it occurs to me that what she may appreciate could vary depending on where she comes from.

For instance if she lives in India and is in New York on a brief visit, she might appreciate something American, or is she of Indian descent but considers herself American, or is she a Non Resident Indian?

If she's not traditional herself, I wouldn't try to send anything traditional.

If she is traditional, send something her whole family can enjoy. It doesn't need to be India related, unless you really feel that's appropriate.

When in India, I usually go for a box of assorted indian sweets. Not very inventive, but tasty none the less and appropriate for most occasions. If she's in NYC you could probably find somewhere to deliver them directly to her office.

I believe she is a an India transplant. If it where a male and American I would buy a nice bottle of Scotch, but that just doesn't seem apropriate

grikoo- Genius. That's the kind of thinking I needed. Any specifics you can suggest? Thanks a bunch!

specific sweets? or some else specific?

If you want the sweets, I suggest calling some indian restaurants in NYC and asking who has the best local sweet shop. (if you call an indian grocery, of course they will have the best).

Or perhaps someone here can suggest a location?

Once you find one, ask if the shop can deliver. If not, just call a courier service to pick them up (this might be the best bet anyway).

No suggestion on specifics. The selection is usually quite diverse(40 or more types), so just get a big assortment.

Sukhadia's in Manhattan is good - I've had gifts of sweets sent to friends from there three or four times and no problems. Very fresh.

Here's the link:

If she drinks, a bottle of California wine. If a big customer, maybe even a case of it (and send me the address )

If she doesn't drink... I dunno.

if you really want her to feel as great as she made you feel....
get a silk dupatta with a lil embroidery or not, and courier it to her -
the dupatta can be worn as a scarf/stole/whatever accessory -

put in a lil effort - the gratitude shines thus!
