How should I introduce myself?

The proper way of introduction in India is with “Namaste.” ...
No. It might have been once, now it is "Hi", and it will probably be "Yo!" soon!

Anyway, "Namaste" is Hindu...

Failed at first tip! I preferred the seven deadly sins article.

I could have been really picky and said that it is namascaram in this part of India, of course!

Having learnt my "formal" Hindu manners in the London classical music scene, where one might expect a good telling off for entering class with out a namascaram to one's guruji, I am amazed how little, outside the elders of the music thing, this formality exists any longer.

Shame, really!

Vanakkam --- as we are not transcribing it into German

My feeling is that that is more general, more, err... secular? (I expect one of our many Tamil speakers will put me right here).
