Theft in Gangtok Hotel
We were on a holiday to gangtok-pelling-darjeeling from 1st march to 10th March. We stayed at superview Himalchuli at Gangtok. On 4th march night a thief entered our room thru the ventilator and the room was ranscked and our suitcases were thrown away. We have lost our digital camera Canon Powershot A540 with 1Gb memory card which costs around Rs.15,000/- and cash around Rs.500/- and a wall hangining we purchased at gangtok. The management has not cooperated with us and they have come to the police station with us and managed the police for not registering the case unitl 12 noon when our jeep leaves for Pelling.
We left Gangtok with utter disappointment for we just got the camera for this trip. we lost the expensive camera plus some very sweet memories. i wnat to warn IM members about Hotel superView Himalchuli, Gangtok |

We thought we'd stay there because that hotel had been recommended on this website. When we arrived in Gangtok we phoned the hotel from the jeep stop to ask if there was a room. We were told "yes." When we arrived a party was in full swing at the hotel--it was very noisy. We were shown a room that was both mediocre and fully exposed to the noise. We asked if there was another room and were told no. So we caught a taxi back into town and began looking at other hotels.
Gangtok is full of hotels in all price ranges. I didn't see that this one had anything in particular to recommend it from any point of view. |
