The best UK debit card to use?

My bank is rubbish and want to charge me shite-loads of money to use indian ATMs . So i'm going to open a current account with another bank that will be more sympathetic to my rupee needs. The question is - WHICH ONE?!

Come on IMers, I know you know

Hi,

I'm in Yorkshire too (hello neighbour!), and I bank with the Halifax.

They charge for using ATM's overseas - it's a real rip-off!

My friend recommended the Nationwide - apparently they do not charge for cash withdrawals overseas.

All the best,

John

Hi
No I haven't considered it - us yorkshire folk are generally stupid and go round eating coal and drinking riverwater, so the prospect of an offshore bank account is so crazy we'd rather not consider it.

seriously tho, i can't be bothered. Cheers for the nationwide tip john, i'll try them out. If not, then maybe just stick with what i know

I can recommend Nationwide's flexaccount. As said above, they make no charges for withdrawals abroad and give an excellent rate of exchange. We had no trouble getting cash from ATM's in India using this card.
