Goa was certainly very nice, especially in winter, when I last went in December. The weather was great, not hot or cold, the beaches are beautiful, and they weren't crowded at all.

That's really a great question for an Indian to answer who has little spare time between job and family and needs a homeland destination that recharges appropriately. I think the allure for most foreign travellers to India are the plethora of options available (through transportation & logistics savvy) that enable one to traverse the diverse cross-sections of Indian terrain & life and all associated with it.

Have been to India twice (and going again in December). Two places stood out above all the places that we have visited on previous trips: Jaisalmer - a great place in the desert with great hospitality. Be sure to find a hotel in the Fort area and go on a overnight desert safari: life changing! The other was Darjeeling. Quite a contrast to the desert, but absolutely amazing. Be sure get take something warm as it gets cold up there, but the Indian and Nepali hospitality makes it worth while!
