Thanks for the memories......

I started visiting India Mikes web site a few months back doing research for my first trip back to India since 1977. Many of the threads I've followed here have brought back a flood of old memories. Especially those times when I've been prompted to feed old negatives through the scanner.

Thanks to all the India Mikers who have triggered these memories with their messages and images. A big thanks for all the up to date reports and advice. And special thanks to the BIG CHEESE himself. Mike #1 who makes it all possible.

Am starting to get excited....This is like going for the first time.
Hopefully I'll be able to upload some 2004 dated images this fall...... Or swap tales over a chai in Ma India.

P.S. Just uploaded an image of a village priest. Never printed this strip of negatives. This is it's first time off the original negative... Now see what you've got me into.... Looking at stacks of negatives. At least scanning is easier than silver prints.

thank you back!

and i would like to say thanks Wanderer, Alan, -m2- for an interesting photo insight! your sharing of memories esp photos is SO MUCH appreciated. retro has never been out of fashion

... and i found myself interested in old guidebooks. the ones before the holy wars of the 1990s started... like, Kashmir of early 1980s, Pakistan of early 1970s... i think these, and your pictures, give us some sense of permanency, stability - if that country/village/cave/carpet machine was there thirty years ago, there is no reason to think that it will go up in flames tomorrow.

or i hope so.
