Temperature in January

I seem to be getting mixed reponses to what the weather will be like in January.....

We are travelling to:
Delhi
Jaipur
Agra
Chennai
Trichy

I have been told it will be really hot (40+ degrees celcius)
I have been told it will be warm (mid 20 degrees celcius)
I have also been told it will be cold (down to 5 degrees celcius)

If someone could let me know the usual temperature in these areas I'd really appreciate it. It will make packing a whole lot easier!

Try the Indian Met Department site. It gives normal max and min temperatures for selected cities. Go to "important cities". If you're out in the Rajasthan desert it will be a few degrees cooler at night and slightly warmer during the day. Here's the url

In January the North - Delhi, Jaipur, Agra will be around

Max - 18 to 22 C
Min - 4 to 8 C

For South India, it is much higher, but since it is the same trip, remember to pack for the north! Also, you feel the cold much more in India than in Australia as central heating is not the norm and most houses are built of stone!
