It sure must have caused you some problem. But from a real security PoV, I am glad that, at IGI at least the sticker thing works (& will always work for all being screened).

wowzers! Lucky you still got onto your plane.
It's far easier to make errors in the whole boarding process than we sometimes think.

The worst security experience I has was a few weeks after 9/11/01. Instinct told me to go with my friend visiting from India into the terminal at San Jose Airport. What a clusterF^@K! The whole place was a mass of confusion with lines worse than any christmastime I've ever seen. We get thru check-in only to be pulled over for FWI- Flying while Indian. Ashok is pulled out of the line and told to wait with some other Indians in one corner of the lobby that was marked by temporary cloth screens. And wait and wait and wait . . . .

Finally I stopped a an aimlessly ambling rent-a-guard and said (politely) WTF????? He promptly let us go; no search, no document check. Then we hit a line hundreds of people long waiting to get thru the security screen at the gate. My mate's got about 5 minutes to takeff. So I put on my Puckasahib persona, march right to the front of the line, and politely but firmly get my friend to the front.

He nade the flight. I'll never forget it.

The swiss knife story sounds so typical of IGI airport. The run around is the best -- someone stops you and they point to another person and that person points to another person and, meanwhile, you are standing there thinking WTF. I do not have security stories but every year the baggage handlers (who do the X-Ray) harass me for $$. Last year, I just blew my lid and started yelling at the guy while trying to get the bags on to the trolley AND carry my 2 year old in my arms. At Indian airports, they try to make your life miserable when you are leaving; at American airports, they make your life miserable when you arrive

On my way back to Los Angeles, I got busted in frankfurt by lufthansa for having a manicure kit (nail clippers, small scissors, tweezers, nail file) in my hand luggage. It had been passed by security at Singapore, Los Angeles, Bangalore, in the past. When I mentioned it to the securty persoan (a woman). She said, "we are just following instructions by your president Bush, you can thank him for this". I suspect, they were taking their "lack of love" for Bush out on US bound passengers, and making sure that the passengers knew who was to blame.

I got stopped in Pune's airport with my leatherman in my carry-on... After an inordinate amount of talking, they put it in a baggy, marked it with my name, and handed it to a flight attendant - who gave it back to me when I landed.

Oddly enough, security in Delhi didn't catch the fact that I had it in my backpack... but the nice folks in Frankfurt did!!

I'm off to the side with a passle of German police standing by... and a guy walks by, looks at me and says "Ah Leatherman! I've lost two of those here in the last 6 months. Don't feel too badly." (which did make me feel better)

crvlvr - the German police made that statement to me as well... My reply was "yup, hate him as well..." which seemed to strike them as funny.
