Soy Milk and Decaf Coffee in India
Hi there,
I'm heading off to India for 4 1/2 months late March and would like to know if soy milk and decaf coffee are available widely in India. I'm sure they're available in the coffee chain stores (Barista and Cafe Coffee Day, posibly Indian Coffee Houses) but otherwise, are they generally available> Cheers, Putty

I have only been on one three week trip to Rajanstan and we stayed in nice hotels. Sometimes decaf was available, but not always. I didn't see any soy milk. I also didn't see any soybeans being grown. There is a lot of milk, however. Remember, there are all those cows!

According to this thread soy milk is available:
Chai and lactose intolerance. Decaf is available depending on what your preference is? I think Tata makes instant decaf available in various containers/packets, and you may well get decaf bean at any of the Coffee shops the sell bulk coffee, tea, spice etc.

Ha ha ha ha ha.
Soy milk. Decaf. Coffee. Too funny. Coffee in India is at best disappointing. At least that was my experience. Why on earth was it sometimes salty? Ewwww. I did go to a Coffee Day and that was good coffee. But please tell me why these coffee places aren't open in the morning? |

There is good Coffee in India - if you know where to look for it.
We bought our coffee fresh roasted at South Indian Coffee & Tea @ 131 Khanna Market in Delhi - they even had those french press plungers that make a really nice brew - just add some ganges water!!! -just kidding add some safe mineral water or filter water and feeeel the buzz! ![]() |

Salty coffee? Now I'm not so sorry I can't drink it!
Soya milk can be bought in supermarkets.

Thanks for your posts everyone.
Have been to India previously and loved the coffee but since my last visit (2001) and due to getting too many migraines, a naturopath has recommended I cut down on my 'caffeine intake' and have decaf and soy milk and hey ... no more migraines so that's the way I'd like to go in India. Atleast if I have decaf soy when it is available and normal when it's not, I'm still cutting down the caffeine. Cheers, Putty |
