Souvenirs

While packing for my trip (I leave tomorrow - yeah!!!) I found a small Nivea tin, the name written in Arabic, but obviously that same Nivea blue and white found all over the world. I bought this in Damascus many years ago. It's such a small thing and I forget about it...but each time I take it out for trips it brings up so many memories, not just of Syria but of all the other travels it's accompanied me on. I think this is the best souvenir, in the truest sense of the word.

What is your favorite item, besides the memories, that you've picked up along the way?

Uh oh, now the world of IM will know my secret favorite purchase that reminds of places. I collect small Vicks tins. It started with my first one in Teheran in 1975 when I had a terrible cold. Then I found they have these tiny tins all over the world BUT only in gigantic sizes in the U.S.A. I always buy a couple. I also always get a cold so I also use them. My last were from Thailand. I never throw out the little tins, I refill them from the big USA bottles! The tiniest are from India. I love them. I love reading them or looking at the arabic writing or Thai writing, etc.

I collect everything which can be called a souvenir... from small memento to key chains, to bus tickets to masks to torn newspapers in some language.

Call me crazy but these are some things which I keep collecting over the last many years.

In fact I've started writing a series on my collection. Here's my collection of the month. I am sure you'll enjoy and envy with me.

Looking forward for your feedback.

I remember playing with those small tin boxes, perfect for my dolls' jewelry. :P
Oh why had I not started collecting then?
