Question So much to see, so little time

Hello,

I hope I'm posting this in the correct branch.

After lurking around here for quite a while now, and reading a lot of information it is time to ask some questions of my own.

In about a week (the 14th) I will be flying into Delhi, and start my journey through India. Unfortunately I can only stay in India for a month, so it seems I have to make some hard choices of what to see and not to see. As planning isn't one of my strong points I have one very vague itinerary, although it's also a bit due to the fact that I have no idea what to expect from India, how things move, how much time I need to travel between cities and what I will like and dislike. But I'm a man on a mission, so need at least some sort of plan. The following is what I have so far:

14th Arrive in Delhi at 23:00
15th City tour of Delhi
17th Train to Alwar and visit the Sariska Tiger Reserve (probably two trip), and probably stay there. Is sariska nice? or am I better of going to an other reserve which lies on my route to Mumbai?
18th Grab the Mandor Express from Alwar to Jaipur (23:00), will it be a problem to get into a hotel in Jaipur at 03:00 at night). I was thinking of staying in the Jasvilas, as I read good things about that place on here. But if there are any other good Hotels in Jaipur please do tell.

Stay in Jaipur for a few days, maybe do a day trip or two.

22th??? Vist Ajmer/Pushkar for one or Two days

25th?? Visit Udaipur and stay there for a few days.

Travel to Mumbai. Which would be the best travel method to get from Udaipur to Mumbai. And are there any places worth visiting along the way?

Stay in Mumbai for two days
Visit Hampi
Travel toward Kerala, and travel around there until the 13th of November.
12th Nov leave for Chennai to catch my flight back home (leaving on the 15th of November)

Is this itinerary doable or would I travel myself to death this way? If anybody has any tips on hotels, sites to see, things to do, places to eat, etc etc please let me know. The schedule I made is quite flexible and I'm willing to make a lot of changes to it if this would make the trip better.

One last question: Since I do not know when I will be where, will it be a huge problem getting train/bus tickets?

Thanks for reading.

Sachar

WHY????

There are loads of trains from Alwar to Jaipur.

Train 2413 departs Alwar 08:00, gets to Jaipur at 10:30.
Train 2015 departs Alwar 08:39, gets to Jaipur at 10:40. (Not Mondays)
Train 2916 departs Alwar 17:49, gets to Jaipur at 20:35.
Train 4059 departs Alwar 20:52, gets to Jaipur at 23:50.

These are just some of the trains, though they would need to be booked as soon as possible.

I would suggest Ranthambore at Sawaimadhopur , which is on Delhi Mumbai line instead of Sariska

k.i.s.s.

sachar, i am almost done with a similar dilemma--flying into delhi, wanting to see the entire country but only having a short time here. i think your itinerary is a little too much for two reasons--first, travel in india takes more out of you than anywhere i've ever been (delays, stress, conditions, toutsand sheer amount of time involved). and i think you get more out of the places you visit with the more time you spend, and this is worth leaving a few places off the itinerary. why just today in goa i met someone who really wanted to tell me why he fully supported the u.s. when he found out that i was leaving tomorrow, he said something like--ah, that's too bad, we've only just scratched the surface.

if i had the trip over i would've gone agra-manali-jaipur-pushkar-goa. oh, and do not under any circumstances get a driver in rajasthan. biggest #%@$'n ripoff of my life--we ended up firing him at the end and taking the train.
