So the plan is to head for india for an freeride/touring trip,
After hours of research on the internet I managed to put together the first version of the program for this Indian trip: Flight Stockholm-Dehli around the 22nd of february (for myself) Flight(75$ for under 25) or bus to Srinagar, 1 nights in a Housboat before a 50km drive to Gulmarg(2700m) 1 or 2 weeks in Gulmarg depending of the conditions ,the feelings and the prices. The cheapest hotels are around 800rs for a double and a trip up the gondola cost 50rs each time. The new lift up to 4500m is supposed to be working for Xmas, opening a new offpist playground... Link for Gulmarg: http://www.alpinetouring.com/gulmarg.htm http://www.goski.com/india.htm Bus to Manali (cheap hotel because it off season, around 4/5 $) and ski touring in the Kullu valley, and in the small resort of Solang, check the informations at: http://www.alpinetouring.com/KulluValley.htm http://www.himachal.com/files/skitouring.htm http://www.caravantraveltalk.com/kullu-manali.htm http://www.travel-himalayas.com/hima...ow-skiing.html Depending on the time we spend in Manali a 3rd place could be possible, around Auli between the highest peak of the indian himalaya: Nanda Devi (7,817m) Kamet (7,756m) Mana Parvat (7,273) and Dunagiri (7,066m). Here is a small selection of Indian ski resorts pictures: http://fr.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/fel...entz/my_photos We're already 3 or 4 people interested to form a small group, we will meet over there or in sweden depending on the timing, no stress or big organisation, we just want to form a small group of skier/snowboarder/telemarker to explore the skiing potential of Indian Mountains, join our experiences to be safer on the mountain. It combines skiing with a cultural trip to explore the incredible INDIA in the heart of the himalayas... you can contact me at: felixhentz@yahoo.fr |

we look forward to seeing you in Gulmarg monsieur.
not quite sure what is going on with the big topic on Auli. Gulmarg is better on every count bar one in my opinion. the only thing good about Auli is the view of Nanda Devi and all the other huge mountains. For snow and slopes, equipment and general fun. gulmarg gets my vote. |
