similar forum for AFRICA??
I went to India for the first time last October and this website proved extremely helpful in arming me with background info on the country as well as travel tips. This year I'm planning on going to an African destination. I'd like to know if there is a similar websit for African travel.
Any help is appreciated
Thanks!

Hi redleader. I can only suggest the Thorntree forum at Lonely Planet. Maybe other IMers will have alternative suggestions?
Happiness is for those who cry, those who hurt, those who have searched and those who have tried. For only they can appreciate the importance of people who have touched their lives. (Anon.)
Try the Fodors forum - 100's of experienced Africa travellers post there.

The Foders forum and the Thorn Tree forum have many knowledgeable members who give some great replies, I just want to add the following comments.
Take the word of ordinary people over that of the travel agent, I've seen some travel agents give out some very misleading information (e.g. too dangerous to use trains in Rajasthan.
) to try to get you to use their services.
Foders seems to attract members who travel on a high budget, it's not uncommon to see a member flying from one 5* hotel to another, then doing a tour (with an expensive tour guide) of a city before flying to the next 5* hotel, I know that to do this in India would be a missed opportunity.
There is the usual problem of 'poor thread titles' on Foders, I've just used their search engine (recommended) and entered 'Nigeria', I got 16 results, only 2 of those had any reference to Nigeria in the thread title.
I hope I'm not putting you off Foders, that’s not my intention, it's a good forum and far more friendly than the thorn tree, try posting a question in both forums, you may be surprised by the results.
My experiences are only in the India part of these forums.
