Shopping in Delhi or Mumbai? Which is better and what to buy?

Hi all

I am a first-timer to India and just wanted to know people's opinions re: shopping in Delhi and Mumbai.

I primarily want to buy:

1) Western clothes (suits, shirts and other casual clothes)

2) Indian clothes (sherwani, Nehru suit, kurta pajama)

3) Bollywood music and dvds

4) murtis of Hindu deities

Is it cheaper to buy stuff in Delhi or Mumbai?

Do people have any recommendations for shops / stalls / markets / shopping centres?

Are there any other quintessential, traditional Indian things that you think are worth buying in India (either to give to others or just for myself)?

All the items you mentioned above are available in both the cities. I suppose if you are good at bargaining, then generally speaking Delhi should be cheaper.

As for the idols of Indian Gods, Mumbai will be a better bet.

The principal shopping areas of Mumbai are located at Colaba, D.N.Road, Fashion street, World Trade Centre, Dadar, Bandra West and Andheri West. The last two areas are in the suburbs.

Delhi more often than not is a better place to shop ... provided you know where you are going and what your are looking for ...
