Send Tent to India

I have sewed a tent for an orphanage in Tenali, Andhra Pradesh State. I live in Traverse City, USA. The problem is how can I ship it there, now? To my grief, my husband won't allow me to use any of my money I've earned to ship the tent there. But someone suggested that the tent could be sent with someone leaving traverse City, and heading for India. Please let me know if you know of anyone who plans to make such a trip in the near future so I can ask them if they are willing to take this tent there for me.
If such a person can be found, they will have earned my deepest gratitude!
Bye.
Debby

Hi Debby!

I am sorry but what I am going to tell you maynot be very encouraging.

If someone takes it for you - it will be a miracle but they do happen sometimes, don't they?

DO NOT send it by post/ courier (like UPS etc). It will probably never reach the child. The best option would be to take a trip down yourself.

another thing I can think of - is to get some organisation involved...inclduing airlines if they will be carry it free for you...and get a chain of people involved....but it will take a lot of will & PR work from you.

Goodluck!

getting tent to India

Hi! It turns out I did have a miracle in the matter of finding someone to agree to send the tent - it is someone who plans to move back to India in June. However, there are still some problems. They are that I no longer have an income to pay the land rental for Dileep and his orphanage to be able to stay on that land in a tent. Without that it is useles to send the tent. However, as soon as I manage to earn an online income, there is better hope of finally being able to pay his land rental regularly. I am working hard to get business going, for this reason.

tent matters

Hi, Volga!
I am a Christian and live in Traverse City, Michigan, USA. Through a Christian email friendship club, some time back, I came to know Dileep. Dileep is a grown man, and he used to be employed at making Christian movies. But then he became an orphanage owner, and that is a full-time job, or at least he has to stay at home to be on hand to take care of the kids. Maybe eventually I can help him figure out a way to be self-employed at home so he can become self-supporting and meet their needs better. Presently though, he's out of money and so must buy their food, etc. by credit. I helped to pay land rental so he could stay on a man's land with his orphanage in a tent that belonged to the landowner on whose land they were on. A friend of mine helped by paying for the rental of the landowner's tent. But now her husband is reluctant to continue paying for Dileep's needs, as he like many In USA, find it hard to trust people who live far away and that they have no way to check them out personally. So I must do without their funds at least until they might eventuallly change their minds. Since I couldn't afford to pay regular rental on a tent for him, I made him a large tent. But now my husband won't let me spend my money to ship the tent there, as he feels we need the money I earn. I don't agree with him but must obey, as I believe Christian wives should. However, I have hope that through online employment, etc. I may find ways to eventually be capable of regularly supporting Dileeps needs until he is able to support the orphanage on his own through some kind of self-employment.
I have a list of references of peoplewho met Dileeep and his orphanage last yeer. If you'd like to get that list so you could email them, email me at my email address and I'll give you the list. I am acquainted with one of the ones on the list - Nicky, a dentist of Canada.
Bye.

Hi Debby

your story sounds charming and somehow out of this century. You must be a lovely person although I would disagree with the bit on Christian wives

and I wish I could help with the tent transportation, if I lived in the States and was going to India that would give me some justification for paying all that money for a ticket to the World's End

but I live in Europe... if you want to send me a PM with the orphanage's address I might stop by there on my next trip to India

Best wishes

Volga
