Save n Save more

Hi Indiamikers,

Although most of the Indians are good at saving money, its hard for me and perhaps for you as well. At least it is tougher than spending. Saving is holding your money aside, hoping for it to grow and be useful at a later time when you need it: preferably during your retirement years, or to achieve greater goals in life like a house or an education. Spending on the other hand provides instant gratification.A moderate savings on one of the big items (houses and cars) combined with savings on the smaller items (food, clothes, etc.) can reap a large reward in your total budget.

In this age of high inflation, debts, recession and international economic vacuum, Here Iam listing some tips on how to save money and be secure ahead.I invite all Indiamikers to add atleast one money saving idea here so as to motivate and encourage Indiamikers and all readers to inculcate saving habits

*Set a budget at the beginning of every month.

*Always live below your means.

*Clear your credit card debt at the first instance.

*Use your talent to earn extra cash.

*Book your airline tickets online(after good research on fares).

*Walk/cycle to the all the possible places(nearby to home)

*Cut down on Drinking and if possible quit smoking

*Claim all your tax benefits & credits.

*Use energy-saving lightbulbs - they're ecofriendly too

*Traveling off season is not only money saving but fun too.

You'll barely notice the shift in your spending from coins to notes, and over the span of a year or so, you'll have a significant amount saved

saving to me has always appeared a little "namby pampy " surly it is better to put your efforts into making more money . the results are usually greater .Also no way trust your "savings" to the financial institutions .If there bottom line is not good for them you are the first to be sacrificed ,over the side you go "oh sorry about that "

For the salaried folks like me, just hope that the PF comes to rescue in the later year and blow up all the remaining money.

So many places to see, so many things to do. And money testes best when it comes and goes.

OP: You're not an 85 years grumpy old man ... are you?

India needs to follow spend, spend, spend like crazy for its internal consumption to rise. Its not like China which is an export fuelled economy.

I’m saving money by not filling my camel’s swimming pool up with water. I hope you don’t think me too cruel!
