Returning from India

Help!!
I just returned from India (physically at least) and am absolutely miserable. This wasn't the first trip, so I wasn't prepared for the re-entry blues or whatever it is. How do other Indiamikers cope with missing India and how long is this going to last? Any good antidotes? I keep telling myself my life is here, not THERE, and I have to get on top of the situation. But if anyone asks me how my trip to India was, I get very quiet and just try not to burst into tears! Comments from Indiamikers who've been through this might help!

oh no......so can I ask you how your trip was? or are you going to burst into tears...

one thing I love about indiamike is hearing stories from people returning from their adventures in India..so I hope to hear yours~

as for antidote, spend your time on this forum and start planning for your next trip

Just book another trip!

Look you have to pull yourself together! Just get on-line and book another trip. It works a treat and is a simple and effective remedy for your very common illness!!

I know how you feel

Hello Mikki,I went through the same feelings in Feb following our return from 6 weeks in India and SLanka with our 5 children,it was so wonderful .Hang in there,we are lucky enough to be heading back there in June to touch the Himalayas and journey to Kashmir if we get our crops planted.Light up your incense,it helps transport me back there. My children think I am going a little mad,but I don't care.

Come on, Mikki, pull yourself together!

Seriously (although having a good laugh always helps) I'm afrais there is only one cure for this.

Actualy, when I returned to London last August I had become convinced that life, for me, was in India, not London and I immediately set about preparing to return longer-term ---and here I am.

There is much on this withdrawal symptoms here on IM. If you can't return soon, at least you can be working towards it.

But do try to enjoy the German flowers, sunshine, sky, people etc while you're there! Perhaps when you form a real plan for your next India visit you'll be able to relax into your 'home' surroundings.

Thanks, everybody! Encouragement from Indiamikers really helps. And I am going to opt for the only cure for my problem: For this trip I only took half my annual leave, thinking that by November at the latest I just might be ready for India again. I'm going back - no question about it!

Ha! In my experience there won't be very much German sunshine this time of year! There is, however, the normal amount of people.

Thumbs up 3 weeks

It will take about 3 weeks to get over the blues. But you will re-adjust to your routine after that. Hang in there.

Hi Mikki, it isn’t so bad, you had nice time here and coming back again winters---looking at bright side of things, you get to escape nearly 42C average heat of summers!!
