Quick Question- name of disease with mini legs, but normal torso?
Namaste everyone!
Question- I'm trying to find the name of the disease of the people/beggars who were always walking on their hands because their legs were super miniature size. If you've been to India you have definelty seen this. Its a terrible disease, are they born with it, is it treatable? Thanks -Babu |

It is Polio.
Now it has reduced, earlier it was very common. There is vaccine for it which has to be given every 6 months. The Indian Govt. conducts Polio vaccination program throughout the country free of cost, which is given at all Public Health Centres and villages and in Stations and many road corners etc in cities twice a year. But still some people dont give it to their kids though it is free, sometimes due to some beliefs in certain groups in india. The Governments in Asia tried to eradicate it fully , but havent been able so far. But hopefully in next 10 years it will be done. |
