That will depend upon the school, school district, and state requirements. The problem is you can require whatever you like but at some schools and school districts the teachers will be unqualified to teach and the students will either sleep through, play through, or be truant from class.

Yes, like PortieOwner explained, it all depends on the state and district. Two of the classes are electives (World Religions and Global Studies) so that means complete independence to structure the course. World History in our district has a loose set of curriculum standards to be followed, and of course, a number of units that should be covered, but it's also up to the teacher how he/she wants to structure the teaching. Honestly, I can't complain about my job. The students are well-behaved, eager to learn, schedule is great and the time off is the reason I can travel. If you're not out to be a millionaire I think teaching is a wonderful profession... The money's not too bad either, not like what people say at all.

I'm an electronics technician, specialising in radio communications. Also alarm systems. Oh, and I design computers at component-level. Yes, and I program them too. And then I'm a web-designer. And I make maps for the internet - have my own website to market them. I am a gardener. I do welding, too. I can rennovate houses. and do the electrics, plumbing and heating. I do building, and roofing. Spent 12 years doing that. I've worked as a researcher in India for Footprint Books, on a few occasions. I'm currently a volunteer, doing a driving job, until I broke my ankle. Now doing admin work, and in the afternoons I am a receptionist. I once trained to level 3 as a Cordon Vert chef.

Is that enough?

Officially the description's something like computer systems and web site administrator, but more often "web guru" or "'puter wrangler" will do. Like TimMakins, I can either program 'em, or build them component level, from the case on up...

My other talents include things like beer brewing and writing science fiction, but so far i haven't managed to get consistently paid for either one of those.

Speaking of unpaid writing, is anyone else planning to participate in National Novel Writing Month?
