| PIO stuff Hi! I saw someone using this site to get some info about PIO status back in 2003, but no one ever posted what the outcome was. I am bascially in the same position. My father was an Anglo-Indian - whose parents, parents-parents etc etc (back about 6 generations) had been born in India. He held a British Indian Passport and was named on it as a 'British subject by birth." It states he was born in Calcutta, but the passport says nothing about him being an Anglo. Anyway, I want to apply for a PIO card, but am really not sure whether I am eligible and the Indian Embassy here in Sydney is being anything but helpful. All very frustrating! I wonder if anyone out there could give me their thoughts on this? Am I eligible? I don't want to go down the path of making the application only to find that I am not! Thanks! |
