Photos of shops ~ Please
My turn to ask for some assistance.
I am working on a graphic design where I am creating a mini shopping area looking like a village square and I have searched extensively for images of Indian/Asian styled shops or groups of shops and I have found about 4 usable ones in all of my days of searching through about 3,000 images on the net. So if anyone has a photo of some shops preferably from a slightly elevated perspective so I can get a roof aspect to it as the viewer will be looking over and into the scene, or can direct me to any I would really be grateful of making use of any photos. They would preferably be larger images so that I can clean out anything that I don't want and then distort and alter the perspective before giving them a slightly 3D look to fit in with a characterised design. If I could draw I would do them by hand but I thought that using images would be easier to work with and would be if I had more than the 5 that I have. Anyway I would still need images to draw from so I am stumped on both sides at present. Love to hear from anyone that has something that may be suitable. Thanks one and all. |

Hi Mira4bai4,
I'll post a small version of this pic here for you to see if it's of any use for your project. If it is PM me and I'll email you a larger file version of it (about 750k).The perspective might be a bit too high for what you want. Cheers. |

Thanks Dino, it is a little to high, but also in saying that it has parts that I could use. I suppose to describe what I need is say a photo from the first or second floors looking at a 2 storey building of 2 or 3 or more shops in a group or single buildings that I can join together.
I was actually very surprised that we don't really take photos of the day to day stuff. There are Lakhs of cafes and Dhabas and we visit most of them but so few photos available. The Google Images is not so good as although a search shows 12,000 images in that category only 300 are available to view, so there could be heaps of images of what I need but just can't get to them. I found this village square image on a website and I am wanting to create an Indian themed version but with a couple of extra specific buildings included. |

No worries.I'll keep looking though like you say it's not a subject matter that is photographed as a matter of course.Unless the shop or cafe is famous for something like Leopolds in Mumbai which I definitely want to photograph after reading 'Shantaram'.

Xealot, they are the best of what is available as far as I can see, they work well with various alterations and the views of buildings are quite usable for perspective, if I could draw I would use their outline and shape but still need real Indian shops and building to get the feel right.
Thanks michep2, really need the building structure which is I think the major difficulty in this exercise. Something taken from wide streets or intersections at a specific cluster of shops. Even some good photos of Connaught Place would work to some degree and anything with a traditional style would be most welcome. I think that once I have got all of this together I will need someone to draw it up otherwise it will look a little cut and paste and fragmented compared to the style of the Village square I am aiming at. |

CyberH' that yellow frontage could have been useful to put over a grotty one that I have but them toilet rolls just get in the way, nice bit of character though.
Lotus Blossom, would have been most excellent if they were open. We are getting warmer another few days may bring out some interesting options. I remember some shots of Little India in Africa that someone had a link to it. |
