Totally agree with that. Quite a few names come to mind that I would thank here but don't want to miss out anyone.

Thanks

Yes. We've been getting so many good images, that I'm thinking of changing it to Photo of the Week.

I really like the random images feature and would like to see it expanded. But the most popular images feature has had the same photos for about as long as I can remember...

Yes! Isn't it suspicious that those two girls are always first!

And no, it isn't me . This one is my favourite

The people ones are so good ...I am to shy to ask them if I can photograph them. I try and get sneaky shots, but nothing like some of those on here.

I have the same problem - just don't have the balls to walk up to a stranger and ask to take their photo.

The one time I did do it, in Albania a few years ago, I got a 'NO!!!' in response. That really didn't help.......

I think that'd be a really good idea Nadreg.

As Shiver...., said all Mistral's pics are great, is my favourite gallery here in IM since always.

About getting permission from the people, I never ask for permission, nevertheless my people's pics are almost never "stollen". I use lens very often and the most important thing is not to be never in a hurry when making pictures and to have "empathy".

By the way, don't ask for permission because when indian people say "yes" then they "pose" very seriously and the pics are normally unsuccesful.

In any case India is really a paradise for all the photographs even for the amateurs without any technical knowledge like me.

Jorge

I remember attempting to take a photo of a young girl who was sitting in one of those carved windows in a pagoda style building in Patan with a perfect profile pose. The morning light was just hitting her face the right way and with the right intensity everything seemingly perfect ..... and so I knelt down aimed the Nikon, framed her perfectly and just as I was about to capture this moment in time .... she turned, look straight at me and started to vigourously pick her nose.

Should I have asked or whistled or pointed to her, the camera and back to her beforehand .... perhaps - but that would have ruined the shot I think!?

I have also had people ask me for money and one who said I just 'stole their souls' after a quick impromptu snap.

Nope - it's a real acquired talent - taking those people pics!

.... and I leave it all to you professionals.

agree with jorge....I've been blessed in India with the shots that I've taken...I rarely ask permission....sometimes I just point to my camera and smile and then I get a smile back...rarely has someone shook their head NO. there have been lots of great shots I've missed on the fly, but so be it, there is always another.

it's usually the other way around for me, sometimes I'm besieged with requests to take photos for people, forget about me asking permission! I get people pulling on my sleeve to take their picture!

don't know what it is but I have found it exceedingly easy to take shots, maybe I blend into the background or something...
