Smile Part 2=-NYC-Cochin Dec1

Hello again, Im so happy now that I bought my one way, take my time , ticket to Cochin. I feel the price was good for $655US total. But its a long flight arrive at 0600am.
So , I have been checking out budget priced places and sent one email to Burrows , (something like that I think). They gave me a price of like $47US. UGGG!! I wrote back and said I could not pay more than $10 a night. I get a email back telling me they have another place around the corner called Casa Linda Hotel (Fort cochi). I could have a room for 350 IRS a night , no AC. I checked out their web page, nothing fancy, simple looking and clean as far as the pictures look anyway. Can anyone tell me about this place? I hope to stay in Kerala till january and enjoy the Christmas holiday, Are there othere worthwhile places to check out for a solo traveler.
Next I need a Dentist who can perform 2 implants at a fair price
Thank you for your help

Although I haven't stayed in the hotel mentioned, looking at the site and for the price quoted it seems like a really good deal. There are numerous home stays in Fort Kochi which you can look up once you are in town.Since you plan to stay for a while, they would work out cheaper.
Fort Kochi is the laid back, historical part of Cochin and has plenty of sites worth a visit in the area;plus its a convenient point to explore the rest of the state from - like the hill stations, backwaters, beaches etc.The advantage of staying in the area is there are plenty of travel agents in the area whom you can visit,go through brochures and albums about various places, draw up a itinerary, compare prices and so on.Having the luxury of time, this would be the best way to go about it.
There are quite a few renowned dentists/dental clinics in Cochin who do implants and have benchmarked their equipment and procedures with the best in the west,so to say.Googling a bit with the relevant words would throw up the popular ones,or I can refer my dentist if you so prefer(He doesn't do implants himself but would be able to recommend one meeting your requirement).

trey to find establishments who cater to the locals and don;t have to use the internet to market their services. Most of these are in demand and don't need to market. you'll find that their services are better and prices lower.

If the cost of treatment is the primary concern and for simple procedures like scaling, filling etc what you said applies in general.Except for the metro's and some of the other larger cities, you wouldn't find a lot of Indians going in for implants. They are quite expensive, even by the comparitively low costs in India. The dental clinics that perform such expensive procedures usually have a high profile and most of them will have a presence on the web. They would have invested time and money to upgrade their skill in the niche area and in the tools and materials to perform the procedure. These specialists do advertise their practice. It used to be primarily by means of word-of-mouth but these days hardly any of the leading practioners is without a website;even if only as means of staying abreast with their peers.Plus the fact that the 'locals' opting for the implants usually comprise of a sizeable percentage of Indians working or settled abroad and other well heeled folks who use the net to gather information,a website of the clinic has become as necessary as a visiting card or the signage outside the clinic.

Actually, I have been searching the hospitals, clinics, google, yahoo,ask.com. But I get very few web pages. There are however alot of doctors, dentist who give a email address only. I have a broad range of medical and dental services that I will have to address, but the first thing I need is the implants, because of the 3-4 month healing time.

The following google search produced these among the first page results :-

http://www.cosmeticdentalcentre.com/

http://www.scientificdentalclinic.com/

http://www.indiadentalcare.com/

All the above websites appear to be quite comprehensive with regard to the kind of treatments offered and other details of interest to a patient.
There are a handful of multispeciality hospitals in and around Cochin who have full fledged dental departments. So if you prefer to address all your medical and dental problems through a single medical service provider, you could try one of those places. Here are the websites of couple of such hospitals:-

http://www.lakeshorehospital.com/

http://www.aimshospital.org/
